Hello! We are a multi-disciplinary team interested in expanding our own understanding of the technical, artistic, and design space of VR as well as pushing its capabilities. And while we would love to make something “cool,” it’s also important to us to make something user centered and practical. We’re very excited to be working with art therapists and helping people with technology!

Thomas Wrabetz

Thomas Wrabetz is a gameplay programmer and designer who loves satisfying mechanics, procedural generation, and making ideas playable.

Lauren Zhang

3D Artist

Lauren Zhang is an artist and programmer interested in working at the intersection of art and technology. At the ETC, they are diving into the 3D art pipeline from the technical art/direction perspective. Ultimately, their goal is to work on projects that explore experimental solutions and allow them to apply both their artistic and technical backgrounds. Outside of their computer screen, Lauren enjoys doodling and sticking googly eyes on random objects.

Rui Zhang

2D Artist

Rui “Harry” Zhang. An 2D/3D artist who is interested in creating fictional universe and si-fi fantasy. Harry is particularly bound up in character concept design and is willing to dig into additional studies and researches to enrich his vision related to the concept art development.

Qianhui Zhi

UI&UX Designer

Qianhui is an interaction designer, generative artist, and human-loving extrovert. She loves working with creative individuals that can bring strong critique as well as laugh at the latest meme. She strives to take every opportunity to grow through teammates, training, industry events, and online resources. She loves to create insight-led, human-centered digital experiences. She admires multi-device strategy, design thinking, user testing, agile development, and lean UX.

Heather Kelley

Faculty Advisor

Named in 2013 as one of the five most powerful women in gaming by Inc. magazine, and in 2011 by Fast Company as one of the most influential women in technology, Heather Kelley’s extensive career in the games industry has included design and production of AAA next-gen console games, interactive smart toys, handheld games, research games, and web communities for girls. She holds an MA from the University of Texas at Austin, where she is an alumna of the Advanced Communications Technologies Laboratory.

Ricardo Washington

Faculty Advisor

Ricardo serves as an adjunct faculty member at the Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center. He specializes in giving the students instruction and guidance in art related areas of their program. Ricardo was a faculty member at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in the Game Art and Design department. He taught classes in 3D art, specializing in modeling and texture creation. He also taught game design, animation, and production classes. Ricardo helped to improve the academic culture with consistent and robust service on various committees and boards, organizing multiple events, updating classes and curricula, and connecting with the community in Pittsburgh. Before AIP he worked for small game company with a great team. He also did freelance game art, focusing on creating content for games for training. He worked with Simcoach games during this time to create content for interactive game based safety training material.
