Week6 — Playtest and Prototype

This week, we built a dialogue system in the game. Although we haven’t finished inputting all the plots, we have the interactivity between players and NPCs. We also put the street view model into the game. After entering the community, players should find Bodega and start the game according to the guidelines.

We did playtest on the existing functions twice, and then plan to modify them according to the feedback. We had a game test with the ETC faculty on Thursday, and we realized that we need to complete the tutorial as soon as possible. For now, we are just a verbal tutorial, which will still confuse the players. We also realized that we might need a map because it’s a 3D game and it happens in a community, where players get lost. There are many details of the design that are not convenient for players to use in the game. On Friday, we had a game test on a second-year student of ETC, and it went smoothly. We also got a lot of useful feedback, among which he also pointed out that the graph design behind our budget interface is confusing, and the upgrade function is not clear enough. For the interface design in the game, we have a general interface design prototype, but we still need to improve the interface design in continuous game testing.
