Faculty Advisors:

Speaker: Brenda Harger

Brenda is a theatre director ( MFA Carnegie Mellon University), improviser, and professor of Entertainment Technology at Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center where she teaches improvisational acting and leads diverse interdisciplinary projects (recent projects are described below). As an improviser, Brenda has performed with Pittsburgh Theatresports and SAK Theatre, and has led improv workshops nationally and internationally. Bakker Harger is also director of a unique award winning theatre company at Carnegie Mellon, which uses live interactive theatre to address controversial issues in the workplace and classroom. She has produced an exploratory DVD-ROM for interactive theatre and is currently pursuing her interest in further exploring her theory and skills in directing and improvisation with technology, both in gaming and theatre. Brenda’s former students are currently working at Maxis, Naughty Dog, Sammy, Walt Disney Imagineering and Electronic Arts.

Chris Klug

In over 23 years designing games, Chris has shipped approximately four dozen games, supplements, adventures, and/or add-ons with his name listed as designer in the credits. He is a faculty advisor to the group, having good contacts within the industry as well as an experienced insider’s perspective.

Students:

Melanie Lam

Melanie is co-producer on the Project Improv team. She is interested in bringing characters to life and creating unique games.

Vivek Jawa

Vivek is technical producer on the Project Improv team. He led the engineering team to design the system architecture and game control systems for the demo. He wants a job doing game programming after graduation this May.

William Houng

Will is a computer graphics artist specializing in character design, texturing and modeling. He designed and painted all the characters for the demo. This summer he wants to would like an internship doing art or design for games.

Fang-Wei Lee

Fang-Wei works as a modeler and animator subtlety conveying status through his animations.

Joshua Taylor

Josh wants to be a technical designer working on his favorite Role-Playing Games. He programmed all aspects of the interface, environment and character control within the demo.

Gregory Wieder

Greg lends his expertise in character rigging and animation as technical artist in the group. He is an instructor at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and hopes to work on animated films.

Joshua Wilson

Josh contributed to the system design and implemented the path finding and rules systems in the demo. He would like a summer internship programming games.
